It is incredible how wonderful being able to do nothing can be. At Casa Lagarto I unwound as never before. The casa is amazing, the staff remarkable, and the locals endearing. The private quarters are great with a fluffy bed, ipod dock station, mini-frig, open shower, and balcony with a view of the Pacific. Thank you for such a fantastic experience. I look forward to my next visit which, really, can’t be soon enough!

Our recent trip to Casa Lagarto was truly special. As you can see throughout the website, the views are spectacular and of course the weather is just about perfect. We have a fairly short summer in Colorado and even during the summer, when the sun sets it gets too cool to comfortably sit outside for very long. Just imagine having an open-air living room where you can read, converse with friends and family, play games, listen to music, or just sit and listen to the sound of the ocean - all the while enjoying a gentle breeze and perfect temperatures. The living area and its panoramic views provide a sense of openness, and yet you have complete privacy at the same time.
Just as important, the accommodations and food service are top notch. The rooms are spacious and well-furnished. The food is of such quality that you should just enjoy and expect that you'll gain a few pounds that you'll need to work off after you return home. We have a timeshare at Mazatlan's newest luxury resort and the accommodations at Casa Lagarto are every bit as satisfying as our timeshare. We almost hesitate to recommend Casa Lagarto, opting to keep our discovery a secret. Experience this hidden treasure before the word gets out and everyone wants to go to Casa Lagarto.Jeff & Kathy Harrell (friends)
Have you wanted a vacation that is pure relaxation? I have always wanted to take a vacation like that and I just had one. Casa Lagarto has all the makings of the vacation of your dreams. From the ocean views, beautiful grounds, wonderful food, and accommodations that make you feel like you are at a resort without all of the resort crowds, this place has it all. My husband surprised me with a trip to Casa Lagarto for my birthday and the surprise was just as much for him as it was for me. You wake up in the morning to the sounds of the ocean and see dolphins while waiting for your morning coffee and breakfast prepared by the wonderful cook. You can either spend time at one of the local beaches which is a very short walk to or spend the day hanging out at the pool or one of the sundecks. We tried to fit in a tourist type thing so we headed to San Blas for a Jungle Cruise. It was fun but to be honest I missed the casa. This truly is a place to sit back, relax, and take in the sights that the casa has to offer. We will be going back for sure.

Our trip to Casa Lagarto in January of 2009 was an exciting and fantastic experience for both of us. The villa is a special place where one has the opportunity to just relax and absorb this wonderful essence. We left the gray and wet climate of the Seattle to arrive in 80 degree weather for eight tremendous days. This vacation provided us with the opportunity for inner peace, privacy, and we got to "hang-out", and enjoy each other. The scenery in front of Casa Lagarto is breathtaking and the sunsets are like watching a different painting each night. The accommodations were perfect and the food was excellent. Staying at Casa Lagarto is better than staying at any high class resort. The villa is a private, secure, comfortable and charming Mexico getaway. We truly enjoyed ourselves and hope to return to this stunning paradise.

Our stay at Casa Lagarto was the most relaxing vacation I have ever been on. From the time that we were picked up and taken to the house, to the day at we left, we did not have to worry about a thing. It was great to know that everything was taken care of: we didn't make plans to do anything, we didn't have to worry about food, transportation, or anything. The food was amazing and there was always plenty to eat. We spent each day lounging around the pool, drinking beer, walking down to the beach and hanging out at the tiny restaurants watching the kids swim in the ocean.
The best part of the house was the hammock that overlooked the ocean. We spent about an hour each day napping there. At night we would watch the sunset and then retire to bed. I caught up on sleep and left feeling better than ever.

GREAT GETAWAY FOR THOSE LOOKING TO GET AWAY!
"My wife and I knew what we wanted in a Mexican vacation spot: some place quiet, with a true Mexican feel and away from the tourist scene. That's exactly what we found in Casa Lagarto. The setting was gorgeous. Casa Lagarto offers amazing ocean views, a beautiful tropical feel with palm trees galore, fantastic accommodations and the absolute best hosts. Let me describe our typical day on vacation at Casa Lagarto: Sleep in a lot, eat a lot, drink a lot, read a lot, and repeat. Throw in a trip to the beach, a swim in the heated pool, getting massage on site with the waves crashing below... There's no doubt that a week at Casa Lagarto will help your blood pressure drop and put a smile on your face. My wife and I agree that Casa Lagarto is a perfect getaway for those truly wanting to get away. We're already planning for the same trip next year!"Cody and Jenn

Outstanding!!
"We spent Thanksgiving at Casa Lagarto along with two other couples and our hosts Paul and Robin. This was the best holdiay/vacation ever! Each couple had our own casita and we shared the main living area which consisted of the kitchen, dinning room, living area and pool. All of the casitas have air conditioning and fans along with their individual bathrooms. We were on a second level casita with a private balcony and had the most amazing view of the ocean and the point. The shared living area is amazing! It's all open are airy but surprisingly comfortable even in the heat. The sea breeze moves throught the open areas morning, noon and night which helped keep bugs away. We just couldn't get enough of the views. Our hosts are wonderful people-friendly, funny and the most down to earth people. Paul and Robin know the area and the locals which made for a great stay. I can't say enough about the great food and conversation for our entire trip. We will definitely go back and soon!Grace and Randy

"We loved it. The view, the amenities, the food, the people, the food were simply wonderful. Did I mention the food? The big honking jumbo shrimp were so good, we made two meals of them. It was great! If you want to kick back and truly relax, this is a great place. We felt safe everywhere we went. We fished with a local fisherman on his open-bow boat. We caught fish one after the other. It wasn't fancy (I caught most of my fish with string and a hook wrapped around an empty 2-liter plastic soft-drink bottle) but what fun. It's not your typical anglo tourist distination, but if you're looking for peace and tranquility, go."

Relaxation Station
"Casa Lagarto is a favorite vacation location for our family. Everyone is made to feel like they are part of the Lagarto family with access to all the many amenities found at this wonderful villa. Friendly hosts, Robyn and Paul, a great cook, lots of relaxing private and public areas, and views that take your breath away are only part of the Lagarto experience. Photography is one of our hobbies, so hundreds of photos were captured during both our stays. A favorite activity was the releasing of baby turtles at sunset. The local community comes together for this event several times for a couple of months each year. The local food markets are fun to explore while tasting the local produce and purchasing great food to take back to the villa. A local girl was called to offer an incredible massage in a private area that jets out over the ocean. Wow, this was great! We have celebrated New Year’s Eve two different years at the villa and have brought in the new year relaxed and rejuvenated each time. Neighbors in the area all joined together to share a meal and some wine – neighbors who are from Canada, the U.S. and beyond gather each year for a great New Year’s Eve celebration. We own over a million points in Time Shares all over the world and we can truly say that Casa Lagarto offers everything and more compared to our Gold Crown resorts. We will return!"

Our stay in paradise
What a perfect vacation! Travel channel like destination is the best way to describe this tropical resort. A typical day includes swimming in the infinity pool, watching whales in the bay, or getting to watch the release of baby turtles back into the wild. After walking a short distance to the nearby village, we enjoyed a day on the beach and a lunch of fresh grilled fish. The locals were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very private, clean and came with great views of the ocean. We spent ten wonderful days at the villa and came home with a lifetime of memories!

Little Piece of Heavan
"In choosing a place for our honeymoon, my wife and I were looking for a location that offered all the benefits of a TROPICAL PARADISE without the congestion of HOTELS. Casa Lagarto was our LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN. Not a detail was overlooked during our stay. The beautiful panoramic views left us breathless every morning. We went there for our honeymoon. It was the perfect romantic getaway. My new husband and I both had very stressful jobs so Casa Lagarto allowed us to get the beautiful, tropical honeymoon we wanted with the privacy we needed. We could not have picked a more perfect or memorable spot. We hope to renew our vows there at some point. We will forever remember the wonderful time we had for our honeymoon in this little piece of heaven! One last thing. Teri, the cook, is amazing! My honey is on a diet where he is unable to eat gluten, we did not miss it a bit. Every meal tasted even more amazing than it looked, the chili rellnoes, the beans, the fresh orange juice every morning, everything was positively delightful. Teri was even incredibly tolerant of my husband who was trying to regale in less stellar high school Spanish. Everything was truly memorable and perfect."

"My husband & I spent a week @ Casa Lagarto. There was so much to explore nearby. We took several hikes along the coastline & enjoyed the beaches, The rest of the time we totally relaxed in the sun out on the sun decks, gazed out at the whales, bird watched & enjoyed the most beautiful star filled expansive sky at night. The sunsets were to die for, as they were an event unto themselves. My favorite part of the trip was the glorious meals on site. I am gluten intolerant & I never worried that I was eating foods that would cause me problems. We let the owners know of my dietary restricitons beforehand. When served anything made of flour, my own ample dishes of the same food, made gluten free, was awaiting me. You cannot go wrong staying in this paradise!"Paula and Terry

Luv This Place
I've stayed at Casa Lagarto two wonderful times and am highly endorsing your stay, with no reservations. The photos do not do justice to this home. The town of Nayarit is a quaint village and the people who live there are so friendly. When you walk through the front gate of this home, you'll feel like you've entered another world. Your cares and worries will disappear. The staff will cater to your every need. If you're looking for a relaxing vacation where you're pampered, this is the place for you!

Most Relaxing Vacation EVER!!
I absolutely love Casa Lagarto! I have been twice and they have been the most relaxing vacations I've ever been on. There are beaches that are a short walk or you can relax in the palapa covered pool. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The food is some of the best I have ever had the chance to enjoy! Not to mention all the fun restaurants along the beach and in the near by towns. You can travel into town for the markets and find great deals. The sunsets are breathtaking and you'll find yourself taking pictures every night so you can enjoy them after you've left. I will be heading back as soon as I get the chance!

Family Friendly - Relaxing for Mom & Dad; Great for the Kids
"The hospitality couldn't be better, the accommodations are first rate and you couldn't ask for a better view from the upper Pod. The children loved the pool while we enjoyed the cool evenings and cocktails. Local restaurants were just short walk along the beach and we were greeted by warm friendly people everywhere we went. The beach was shallow and very kid friendly, allowing for safe play for all of the little ones. The small enclave of ex-pats in the neighborhood were welcoming and we always felt safe. The house staff were very accommodating with special diets (gluten free, dairy free), willing to experiment with new flours and ingredients to make local dishes for our family. The grounds are meticulously maintained and one can spend the day with a cup of coffee (or cerveza) just sitting by the fountain or under the arbor enjoying the environment around you. We have had the luxury of staying at Casa Lagarto twice and look forward to our next trip. Thank you Paul and Robyn for the special assistance with our unique diet and ensuring our vacation was stress free!"Erik and Jill

Absolute Paradise!
"I've stayed at Casa Lagarto twice in the past year, and the experience was just as amazing the second time as it was the first! The Villa is truly something out of a dream - I've never experienced anything quite as breathtaking and relaxing as lounging in the open-air sitting area, feeling the warm, aromatic breeze on my face, gazing out over the infinity pool, and watching the waves of the Pacific Ocean crash on the rocks below. Please, oh please, let the After-life look like this! The owners didn't miss a single detail - the well-kept plants and brightly colored flowers, the gorgeous tiles in the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms, the spacious patio for sunbathing, the white lights lining the palapa roof which make the entire place look like a dreamscape once night falls - everything was thought of, and every single thing you could want is already there. After coming back from my first trip, I spent weeks upon weeks pouring over my pictures - down at the neighboring beach eating the most amazing shrimp ceviche and snapper I've ever had in my life, swimming and lounging in the infinity pool (did I mention there's a built-in sitting area in the pool!?), making friends with the wonderful, hospitable folks that call Platanitos home. It was by far the most relaxing week of my life. I just couldn't stand it - I had to go back! The second time around, as the door swung open into the courtyard, and I smelled the ocean air mixed with the sweetness of the flora and fauna, and could hear the crash of the tide, I knew I was in for another amazing week of fun and relaxation, and truly overwhelming joy. Casa Lagarto, I can't begin to thank you enough! Now I know what Paradise looks like, and I can't wait to return!"Katie

"we were so lucky to be referred to robyn and paul and their beautiful property. we spent five nights, we consisting of three adults in their late thirties and a four year old boy. first of all, the place is GORGEOUS. second of all, paul and robyn are hilarious. third of all, this is TRUE MEXICO. the beach at platanitos had exactly four gringos on the days we visited and they were us. robyn set us up with someone at the local turtle reserve and we were able to release baby sea turtles into the ocean. she also introduced us to a local who took us out on his fishing boat and we watched four separate pods of whales. they were breaching 15 yards from us at one point. the sunsets were incredible. lastly, we forgot our passports on the property and robyn spent the entire morning arranging for someone to drive them to us in pv. you will not find a better deal than this or enjoy a more relaxing vacation."

Location, Location, Location, Relax, Relax, Relax
"My wife and I traveled to Casa Lagarto in February. From the moment we arrived, we felt we had entered into a new world. A new world where the theme was Relax, Relax, Relax. Forget the touristy resorts where you are just one of the crowd, this is all about you, period. The scenery is beyond description, the villa is so colorful and inviting. Did I mention the view is beyond description. You're a king and queen perched in you own little castle on a hillside overlooking the beautiful ocean, sandy beaches, and palm trees. This still doesn't do the view justice. Our casita was incredible, especially the balcony nestled in the top of palm trees. Every night the sound of waves crashing on the beach, the breeze gently blowing through your open doors, beautiful star filled sky. Two of our favorite things was watching the whales during the day from our shaded cabana and the authentic food prepared for us. You won't go hungry. As for sunrises and sunsets, you will never see one prettier than the ones that happen at Casa Lagarto. The owners went out of their way to make sure we had any and everything we could need to make our vacation unforgettable. The only negative part about vacationing at Casa Lagarto is having to leave it."
